Week Five

This week I got into black & white photography and I could read two interesting books. On the one hand, there’s Advanced Digital Black & White Photography, which is specially oriented to this week’s topic, while on the other hand there’s Real World Digital Photography. I really recommend both of them, specially the second one, which plainly explains most of the key points on digital photography.

The first picture is a self portrait. Taken using a direct flash on the left-bottom corner to fill some light on my back and on the plants at my left side. The picture was intentionally cropped from the bottom to avoid some rubbish that didn’t help so much on the composition.

Location: “Les Mayoles”, Close to Rubió
Camera: Nikon D80 + Nikor 14-24mm 1:2.8G ED — Focal length: 17mm (25mm equivalent)

Bonus picture, with a lot of help from Alba:

= A vs B =

This is a combination of two pictures, the one on the left was taken using one flash pointing to the face, switched to manual and flashed at 1/128. The picture on the right had the same flash, but this time at 1/64 and a second flash at 1/8 on the back of the subject and pointing to the white wall.
