— SO NOW, WHAT? —

So that’s it! One year of pictures… 52 weeks… and definitely a lot of fun! I hope you all enjoyed viewing the pictures as much as I did taking them. But a question comes now to my head: And now, what? Which project could I do? Another 52 weeks? (No please!) A 365 days? (No f*$%& way!)… Then, what?

Maybe you can help me decide what to do, maybe you have a project in mind and you need a photographer on it, maybe… mmmm, I think it’s better if you tell me what would you like to see here during the next year. So I’ve prepared a form where you can decide it, and to thank you all your patience I’ve prepared a raffle for all the people that fill the form, and the prices will a huge paper copy of the project’s picture you like at most.

— LITTLE GREEN GOBLIN —

This weekend I assisted to a workshop in Berga, driven by Flo Tucci and Raul Villalba and I got really impressed with their artwork, specially with Flo’s one and all of her techniques on retouching and merging images to obtain something full of fantasy and creativity. She asked us to try for ourselves some of those techniques so here is my try! It’s called the dolly effect (or something similar) + a second technique to do a digital makeup. So 100% pure post-editing!

I hope you will like this effect as much as me ;-)

And finally, tomorrow, November 8th, the last post of the project… To all of you who visited the project, commented the pictures or have been giving me support, THANK’S! Without knowing it, you’ve been pushing me to finish the project and to work harder to improve every week.

— ROGER AND LA PALOMERA —

Finally, the weekend with my friends from the university arrived! It was time for long conversations, good food and relaxing. And also my first introduction to kite-surfing! Before leaving I had time to take this picture for the project, with the help of Roger, Loren and Alba. Thanks Roger for standing still even when one of the waves stopped just a few centimeters from your feet, ;-)

The picture is taken with a long exposition (30″), only with the lighting coming from the city and the one left in the sky.

— THE CHILDREN OF OKAVANGO —

The end of the project is close, and if I pretend to finish it the same day I started it, I’ll have to post twice this week and the next one. I would’t like to finish it without sharing those pictures… This children is so happy with very few goods, without realizing how difficult their parents lives are and how unfair this world is. They still keep their illusions intact, and it’s our responsibility to make them possible, or at least affordable.

I think that travelling should be part of anyone’s education, and that this way, with time, we could build a global collective conscience.

— IT RAINED, FINALLY! —

So it finally rained in Catalonia… and, of course, we’ve had floods!  There’s a say in my country: In Catalonia, rain doesn’t know how to rain. I couldn’t agree more… However, to celebrate it here’s a picture of water’s benefits, taken in a place where water is NOT a problem, although they have many others :-(

— ME IN THE DARK I —

When the ideas don’t come clear to my mind or something goes wrong around the picture I’m trying to take, I always have the chance to take a self-portrait… And that’s what I had to do this week. I was trying to take pictures of water drops but for no reason both of my wireless flash triggers stopped working. I suppose that this is the difference between the 400€ PocketWizard’s and the 80€ Phottix’s I bought… Whatever the reason was, I ended up taking pictures of myself with the flash mounted directly on the camera, with a strobist kit’s cone+beehive accessory. The flash is in TTL mode, -2 underexposed.

— SKATING NYC —

Last post about NYC, promise! Although I have many more photos in the drawer, I’ve preferred this pure “point & shot” picture while walking along the 5th Ave. I only had time to focus the guy on the skateboard, without thinking on the camera setup, so I couldn’t reach the desired movement effect “as is”. I’ve solved it by applying a radial defocus filter on the post-edition. That’s it! See you soon NYC!

In my stay in NYC I had the opportunity to see the skyline of Manhattan from the west (on my way to Buffalo), from the south (ferry to Staten Island) and from the east (Brooklyn), and I must conclude that, for me, there’s no better view than the one from Brooklyn.

The second picture was taken without tripod despite having taken a tripod with me. The reason was that it was too weak for the lens I was using, and that reminds me that some day I’ll have to rethink how many gear I take with me on my vacations… I ended up with a huge cervical pain and, even so, I missed some equipment! My conclusion is: If the trip is not photography oriented, bring the minimum possible equipment. Maybe a mirrorless camera would be the best option for a photography addict on vacation… ;-P
